In the latest edition of Digital Talks, we focused on a topic that goes beyond technology: the working methodologies we use at Sabadell Digital to deliver real value to our customers. Our technological ecosystem is complex, with multiple components coexisting and integrating, but what really matters is how we organise people and processes around a common purpose.
Methodologies in the service of the customer
We always work from the outside in: the customer is at the heart of the entire experience. This means being able to capture and understand their needs, behaviours and how to provide solutions that truly support them in their day-to-day lives.
As highlighted during the conversation: “The first thing is that the customer is at the centre of the entire experience, with data as the key element – in other words, being able to understand why they behave the way they do and which experience best meets their needs.”
Pragmatism is key. For processes that are well-defined and established, we rely on more structured methodologies. Conversely, when addressing initiatives with greater uncertainty, we embrace more agile approaches that allow us to iterate in short cycles, gather feedback and prioritise what brings the most value at each stage.
DevOps and artificial intelligence as accelerators
Software development is no longer simply about writing code: today, much of the effort goes into testing, controls and deployment. To achieve greater speed and reliability, we are advancing in the automation of these steps through DevOps practices, which allow us to combine order and control with agility and speed.
Generative artificial intelligence is also beginning to play a significant role in this transformation. Its potential to support the migration of legacy systems to modern architectures based on microservices opens up new opportunities.
A collaborative culture as a differentiating advantage
Beyond tools, what truly sets Banco Sabadell apart is cross-functional collaboration. There are no walls between business and technology: communication is horizontal and fluid, with all teams speaking to one another and working towards a shared goal.
“Here there are no Chinese walls between business and technology: there is permanent, horizontal communication. Everyone speaks to everyone else, and that is one of Banco Sabadell’s greatest advantages over other banks.”
Ready for the future
At every step of our evolution we apply a clear principle: to adopt what delivers value and to do so with purpose. This is how we understand working methodologies: not as an end in themselves, but as a means of transforming how we deliver digital services.
We will continue to share in future editions of Digital Talks how new practices, artificial intelligence and a collaborative culture are shaping the future of digital banking.
