From 17 to 19 October, we held the second edition of the Innovation Banking Hack Fest at the CCTA (Technology Competence Centre of Alicante), the ‘hackathon’ promoted by Sabadell Digital that brought together more than 140 university students in an environment of open innovation, collaboration and intensive learning.

Over 44 hours, participants worked in teams to develop technological solutions applied to the banking sector. A true festival of young talent and creativity, through which we reimagined what the bank of the future could be like.

A genuine commitment to talent and innovation

In this edition, teams were inspired by highly relevant themes such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital accessibility, and new forms of identity and payment, demonstrating the great potential of new generations to drive a bank that is closer, more inclusive and more digital.

“Seeing bonds being formed, ideas emerging and everyone — participants, mentors and the organisation — feeling part of something big, strengthened my values such as respect and shared responsibility, and my conviction that collaboration and innovation are the path to building the future. Without a doubt, I gained invaluable learning and the satisfaction of having contributed to creating a space where young talent and the culture of Banco Sabadell shone brightly.” Nuria Herranz, Innovation Director and volunteer of the Innovation Banking Hack Fest 2025.

A collaborative environment with real impact

The event provided a unique co-creation environment where the bank’s community was present at every stage: from the mentors who supported the teams, to the volunteers, who were part of the jury, workshops and organisation.

Strategic partners who made this edition possible

The event would not have been possible without the active involvement of our technology partnersAccenture, DXC Technology, NTT Data and Kyndryl — and all collaborating entities that contributed talent, knowledge and resources to this edition.

Their involvement not only strengthens our innovation ecosystem but also demonstrates the power of combining capabilities between organisations that share the same vision: transforming banking through technology and talent.

Closing this edition with an eye to the future

Thanks to the collaboration of universities, the entire bank community involved and technology partners, the #IBHF25 became a benchmark event for connecting with young talent and listening to their proposals with a fresh and creative perspective.

The success of the Innovation Banking Hack Fest 2025 drives us to continue promoting spaces that inspire, challenge and connect people.

Because when we open the door to new ideas, we create real value for our organisation, our teams and society as a whole.
