On 8 April, we held a new edition of Sabadell Morning, an initiative led by the Architecture team with the aim of analysing the current data ecosystem. During the session, participants explored the existing limitations in accessing information — such as fragmented data sources and the lack of consistent standards — as well as the need to evolve towards a governed and standardised data model across the bank.
The session focused particularly on the evolution of the access model and the strategic role of Denodo within this transformation.
Denodo as the Bank’s Strategic Platform
At present, access to information is often heterogeneous and complex, making both data consumption and governance more difficult. To address this challenge, the bank has integrated Denodo, a data virtualisation platform that acts as a logical access layer.
This technology abstracts the complexity of backend systems and provides a unified view of data, enabling users to query information without needing to know its physical location.
Benefits of the New Data Architecture Model
- Unification: Centralised access across multiple data sources.
- Simplification: A single query layer that reduces the learning curve.
- Efficiency: Reduced data replication and faster time-to-data.
- Self-service: Enablement of Data Marketplace scenarios, ensuring secure and efficient use of information.
Sabadell Morning: Driving a Data Culture
The Sabadell Morning event reflects our commitment to sharing technological knowledge across the organisation. These initiatives not only bring cutting-edge solutions closer to teams, but also foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
By standardising processes, we reinforce data as an accessible strategic asset. In addition, this professional environment highlights the development of our teams by providing exposure to leading technologies and enabling active participation in the transformation of the bank’s data model.
