Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly present in our day-to-day lives, reshaping processes, business models and ways of working. But do we know what role women are playing in this transformation within companies?
With the aim of making this reality visible, AEPA (Association of Businesswomen, Professionals and Executives of the Province of Alicante) and Women in AI Spain (an international community that promotes leadership and female representation in AI) organised the event ‘Women and AI: from users to leaders’, a meeting designed to showcase, first-hand, the active role of women business leaders in the transformation driven by Artificial Intelligence.
Under this heading, the initiative brought together more than 70 professionals from the technology and business sectors to offer a practical, strategic and inspiring view of how Artificial Intelligence is transforming business models and generating new opportunities across different industries. All of this while highlighting the female talent that is already leading this change and addressing some of the challenges that still persist around the gender gap in the technology sector.
AI is moving forward, but female participation in development remains lower
The event featured several panel discussions with professionals from different companies. From Banco Sabadell, Susana Soler took part as a keynote speaker. In addition, the day included a networking coffee break and the interactive activity ‘Women and AI: breaking barriers’, designed to encourage the exchange of experiences and professional connections.
During the discussion, a clear reality was analysed: although more and more women use Artificial Intelligence tools as end users, their levels of adoption, development and leadership remain lower when it comes to strategic decision-making.
In this regard, Susana Soler stressed the importance of approaching AI through knowledge and experimentation, highlighting two essential points:
- Practical approach: making it easier to integrate these tools into the day-to-day professional environment.
- Value creation: understanding technology as an opportunity to enhance human capabilities, not replace them.
“Artificial Intelligence is here to stay and represents an opportunity to expand our capabilities, not to replace them. Used well, it helps us make better decisions, be more efficient and enhance human talent.” — Susana Soler, Head of Delivery and Methodology and Head of CCTA
A technological transformation with more women at the helm
Initiatives like this help strengthen the presence of female professionals in an environment that is becoming increasingly strategic for organisations. The major challenge today is not only for women to adopt AI as users, but also to take an active role in its development, leadership and business application.
At the bank, we want to continue highlighting the role of the women who are part of our organisation, promoting a culture in which female talent is a driving force for change. Supporting initiatives like this reflects our commitment to a diverse, inclusive technological transformation that is ready for the challenges of the future.
